Soda ash acts as a fixative or mordant for Fiber Reactive Dyes. It works to open cellulose fibers to permanently adhere the dye. It can also work on silk!
This bag contains 1/2 cup of soda ash and can make 128oz total of solution. We recommend doing an amount that will submerge your fabric fully. 1/4 c makes 64oz of solution which will soak about 1 yard of fabric or 2 large t-shirts.
Soda ash is nothing to be afraid of! It is commonly used in pools and soft water systems. Despite this, please wear gloves and eye protection when using the soda ash. It is not toxic but it can easily dry out and irritate the skin/eyes. For use of those 18+ or with adult supervision.
